Brad Pitt was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to strict, Southern Baptist parents of mainly English and Irish descent. He was raised in Springfield, Missouri.

Pitt‘s first starring role in a feature film was in The Dark Side of the Sun (1997). He played a young American taken by his family to the Adriatic Sea to search for a brad-pitt-in-the-dark-side-in-the-suncure for a rare skin disease. The film was shot in pre-war Yugoslavia during the summer of 1988.


As editing neared completion, civil war tore apart the region and much of the footage was lost. In 1996, after a five-year search, all of the lost footage was found and returned to producer Andjelo Arandjelovic, who is currently working on getting a distribution deal for the film. Pitt was paid $1,523 per week for seven weeks.


Pitt auditioned for the role of J.D. in the cult classic 1988 film Heathers (1989) and although he showed talent, casting directors thought he was too sweet for the role, and cast Christian Slater instead. He would later go on to a very similar role in the horror film Cutting Class (1989).


For Cutting Class Pitt was paid $12,000 (1989).

The film Seven Years in Tibet was released in 1997. This film, which chronicled China’s invasion of Tibet, was hailed by Tibetan nationalists and resulted in Brad Pitt, along with his co-star David Thewlis.


He was banned from entering China because of his role in the controversial movie Seven Years in Tibet (1997).


He was paid $10,000,000 for Seven Years In Tibet (1997).


Pitt wanted to leave the production of The Devil‘s Own (1997), but was threatened by a lawsuit. In the February 2, 1997, Pitt called the film a disaster in issue of Newsweek, and said that it was the most irresponsible bit of filmmaking - if you can even call it that - that I’ve ever seen. He was a big fan of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), and approached director Guy Ritchie to ask for a role in his next film, Snatch. When Ritchie found Pitt couldn’t master a London accent Ritchie gave him the role of Mickey the One Punch Pikey, an Irish fighter, in Snatch (2000).


Pitt became concerned when Guy Ritchie told him that he would be playing a boxer in Snatch (2000), because he had just finished shooting Fight Club and did not want to play the same type of role again. Because Pitt wanted to work with Ritchie so badly he took the role anyway.


Without being asked to, he made an appearance on MTV’s Jackass (2000) where he did stunts with the cast, dressed in an ape outfit. In one episode, Johnny Knoxville and a few other guys drive a van to a film set where Pitt is shooting a movie and grab him. They throw him into the back of the van and drive off with him gorrilla-style. Pitt was not aware that this stunt would take place, nor was anyone else on the set. He eventually dons a monkey suit and joins the guys in their wild antics for the remainder of the episode.


Pitt was paid $10,000,000 for The Mexican (2001).


His character in Spy Game (2001) is named Tom Bishop. In Sneakers (1992), Robert Redford plays a character named Martin Bishop.

In Ocean‘s Eleven his character, Rusty Ryan, eats or drinks in all but four scenes. This came about when director Steven Soderbergh was looking for a funny trait for Pitt’s character. He asked Brad for an idea when Brad happened to be eating dinner. Pitt, who had not eaten anything that day and was starving, said, with a mouthful of food, „How about he eats all the time?“


The scene in Ocean‘s Eleven where Brad Pitt teaches Joshua Jackson and Topher Grace to play poker is spoofed in the Taco Bell commercials Rules of The Table and King of Clubs. The commercials were meant to be so accurate that the very same card table used in the film was tracked down and rented for them.


For Ocean‘s Eleven he was paid $30,000,000 ($10m salary + backend participations) (2001).


Pitt got into a real life car chase after a crash in LA on August the 7th, 2002, as he chased after a woman driver who sped off from the scene.


In September, 2002, hundreds of crew members on filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s sci-fi thriller film The Fountain took Pitt to task for bailing on the production just two months before its scheduled start date in Australia, apparently scuttling the project.


He urged movie The Fountain bosses to move the shoot to nearby Cairns, because he thought the Gold Coast is a shlocky tourist area.


Pitt has upset residents of an Australian tourist resort, by refusing to shoot his new movie there. The movie star is moving Down Under for six months while he makes new film The Fountain there, with Cate Blanchett and Johnny Depp.


Pitt has given his shaggy beard a rather strange name, the Bin Laden. The Hollywood actor says his straggly whiskers make him look just like the al-Qa’ida terror leader. Brad grew the beard for a part in sci-fi thriller The Fountain, but because filming has been repeatedly cancelled the beard has grown and grown.


In September 2002, Pitt walked off the Australian set of The Fountain because he couldn’t bear to be away from his wife Jennifer Aniston a minute longer; he was desperately unhappy on the set after a series of supposed creative disputes with director Darren Aronofsky (September 25, 2002).

Se7en was the grisly serial killer movie wowed audiences in the 1995 who watched as Pitt’s character Detective David Mills was left berefoot after his wife and unborn baby became the last victims of Kevin Spacey’s psycho. Instead the action will center on Freeman’s character William Somerset as he comes up against another serial killer (January 3, 2003).

When they’re not frolicking at their French chateau or living life in the Big Easy, the Jolie-Pitt clan enjoy the laidback California lifestyle at their home near Santa Barbara.
