This is the story of a legendary showman’s double life, television producer by day and CIA assassin by night. Barris said that at the height of his TV career he was recruited by the CIA and trained to become a covert operative.

Sam Rockwell portrays Barris under the direction of actor George Clooney. Supporting roles are provided by Drew Barrymore, Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Barris remained heavily involved in production in an attempt to portray the film from his point of view. Rockwell was praised for his acting and won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 2003 Berlin International Film Festival.
